Lake Titicaca, the “Sacred Lake of the Incas” is the highest navigable lake in the world, surrounded by the magnificent Royal Range of the Andes. The mythical Sun & Moon Islands - cradle of the Inca Empire - the Tiquina Straits, the Urus Iruitos Floating Islands, and the Islands of Pariti, Kalauta and Quewaya, emerge from the sapphire blue waters of Lake Titicaca.

The unmatched Uyuni Salt Flats is the largest on earth: miles and miles of dazzling pentagons of crystalline salt and the noise of silence makes the heart beat faster. Certainly, there is no place like this on the planet.

Tiwanaku proudly shows its glorious past expressed in huge monoliths and mysterious temples. Tiwanaku is the spiritual centre and one of the most important archaeological sites in South America.

The emerging Tropical Zone and National Parks: Bolivia has one of the largest fresh water reservoirs in the world. The tropical areas of Bolivia are the green treasure of the world and include most of the 21 ecological protected areas and National Parks.

Sucre and Potosi are the authentic expression of the Spanish colonial times, maintaining the 17th century atmosphere.

The telluric strength of Bolivia is manifested in the Carnival of Oruro, recognized as the most important expression of the world of folklore, a festival of colours, movement and religious fervour.

As a landlocked country, Bolivia is bordered by Brazil to the north and east, Paraguay and Argentina to the south, and Chile and Peru to the west. The weather in Bolivia can vary drastically from one climatic zone to another. The summer months in Bolivia are November through March. The weather is typically warmer and wetter during these months. April through October, the winter months, are typically colder and drier.

In the highlands, the weather can be very cold and temperatures frequently go below zero at night, especially on the Altiplano. Snow is common in Potosi during the winter months and sometimes also falls on La Paz and Oruro. In contrast, winter in Sucre, Cochabamba and Tarija on the Cordillera Real is a time of blue skies and comfortable temperatures.

The weather in the rainforest is usually very hot and is often very wet. The drier period of the year is May to October. The section of the rainforest that borders the Cordillera Real of the Andes Mountains is a bit cooler, but still very wet. As altitude declines, the temperature rises.
